Detectives search for Peeping Tom targeting Parkland residents

Detectives: Man peered into bathroom window while homeowner took shower

PARKLAND, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are searching for a Peeping Tom targeting residents in the Grand Cypress Estates and the Landings in Parkland.

Surveillance video captured a tall, lanky young man walking into the back yard of a home at 9:10 p.m. March 24. He can be seen hiding behind some bushes and walking onto the back patio.

Detectives said he was peering into a bathroom window while the homeowner was taking a shower.

On April 1, ?another homeowner, Lisa Ponczek, said she was folding laundry around 10 p.m. when she heard a noise outside her window.

"About five minutes later I hear the noise again but even more, and I heard a squeaking on the window, which I now think was the bottom of his sneaker against the glass," Ponczek said.

Ponczek said the Peeping Tom was trying to get a look above her closed blinds.

"I looked over and saw the shadow of a guy hoisting himself up," said Ponczek.

Ponczek banged at the window and said he ran.

Both the Grand Cypress Estates and the Landings are gated. Neighbors believe the Peeping Tom might have climbed over a wall to get in.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to call them or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
