NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who recently attacked two women joggers.

In both cases on April 29 and May 1, deputies with the Broward Sheriff's Office said the man approached a woman jogger, showed her a gun and spoke to her in Spanish.

In each instance, the man grabbed the woman and tried to drag her into bushes or a tree line, all the while giving orders in Spanish, according to deputies.

Both women are English-speaking, and deputies said they didn't know what he was telling them. In both cases, the women fought back and were able to escape.

One woman hit the man's face and the other woman bit his hands, said deputies.

The man appears to have been targeting areas often frequented by joggers in the area between West McNab Road and Tam O'Shanter Boulevard along the Hamptons Boulevard / Avon Lane corridor, according to deputies.

Authorities said both attacks occurred at night between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The suspect is described by the Broward Sheriff's Office as a clean-shaven Hispanic man in his mid to late 20s. The man is approximately 5 foot 9 inches to 6-feet tall with a medium build.

Deputies said the man had dark, spiky hair, may have moles along the side of his face and bite marks on his hands.

Anyone with information about this man can contact BSO Det. Zachary Scott at 954-321-4200, or report anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at 954-493-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
