Disney considering variable prices at parks

There would be 3 different price categories under plan considered

ORLANDO, Fla. ā€“ Disney is considering a big change to how much guests pay for a day at its parks.

According to WKMG in Orlando, Disney marketers are surveying some past guests what they think of paying higher prices to go at the busiest time of the year, similar to how hotels and airlines charge.

Under the plan being considered, there would be three different price categories -- Gold, silver and bronze.

Gold tickets are valid any day of the year. Silver tickets are valid most days, except for peak and holiday weeks. Bronze tickets are valid only during off-peak weekdays.

Multi-day tickets crossing two or more seasons must be purchased at the highest season's price.

At $125 for a one-day pass to Magic Kingdom, gold is the most expensive, silver is $10 cheaper and bronze is the least expensive. Examples given in the survey shows slower weekdays would be the cheapest, at the current price of $105 for Magic Kingdom.

But during busy times like Christmas and summer, the price jumps to $125 a day.

Disney says that it surveys guests all the time on a variety of ideas, and while some ideas develop into more than just an idea, others do not.

The calendar was sent out by Disney marketing, gauging how well it might work. Some Disney guests said their schedules matter most.
