Dispute about motorcycle damage leads to Pompano Beach fatal shooting, BSO says

Arrest report says Roosevelt Francois shot Hector Alvarez multiple times

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man fatally shot his friend in Pompano Beach after an ongoing feud about damage to the victim's motorcycle, according to an arrest affidavit obtained Monday by Local 10 News.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said Roosevelt Francois, 30, shot Hector Alvarez, 25, multiple times Thursday night at a business that is used by the motorcycle club Top Gunz MC.

According to the arrest report, Francois and Alvarez agreed to meet at the club to settle their differences.

Several witnesses told detectives that Francois made a statement about death and that he thinks about who he is going to take with him before pulling out a gun and shooting Alvarez multiple times.

"I have nothing to lose, so don't (expletive) with me," Francois told Alvarez before he shot him, according to the report.

Deputies said Francois sped away in his Mitsubishi Eclipse while witnesses were on the phone with 911.

Margate police and deputies attempted a traffic stop, but Francois refused to stop and led them on a chase, the report said. Francois eventually lost control of the car near Pine Island Road and Southgate Boulevard in Tamarac, where it crashed into several trees and overturned.

Francois was taken to Broward Health North to be treated for his injuries. He was later taken to jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

A judge ordered Monday that Francois be held without bond.
