MIAMI – A north Florida man was arrested and charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder Friday.

Jose D. Fontanillas, 63, of Jennings, was arrested while walking along Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Miami-Dade Police Department, the FDLE announced Saturday.

Fontanillas is charged with murdering his wife, Diane Williams, 58, and his mother-in-law, Elouise Welcome, at their home in Hamilton County.

Police were called to the home Jan. 15 and found Williams and Welcome dead, along with the family dog.

After the homicides occurred, investigators received information that Fontanillas could have fled to South Florida.

Fontanillas was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail and will return to Hamilton County to face charges.
