MIAMI – A dozen school buses were broken into off Flagler Street and 34th Avenue early Tuesday morning in Miami.
Police caught the suspect, identified as Miguel Guerra, 36, thanks to a tip by a neighbor.
Guerra is charged with burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, possession of stolen tools and criminal mischief.
All but two buses were able to be fixed and get back on the road to pick up children in time for class Tuesday.
The buses are privately owned and drivers were calling parents to inform them of the incident.
According to one owner, this is the third time his batteries were stolen. Each bus uses three batteries, which are worth $150.
Guerra was being held in jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. Police have not said whether they believe Guerra is also responsible for the past bus break-ins.
