MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A driver has been arrested after he nearly struck officers and led police on a chase Saturday, Miami Beach police said.
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle that accelerated and nearly struck officers who were on foot nearby conducting an unrelated traffic stop, police said.

The vehicle eluded officers and attempted to ram responding police vehicles repeatedly.
The driver, identified as Jose Calleja, led officers on a pursuit down State Road A1A and across 41st Street, striking numerous vehicles along the way, police said.
Calleja was arrested after abandoning his vehicle near 19th Avenue and Southwest Seventh Street.
