Driver of Escalade crashes into Deerfield Beach souvenir shop

No injuries reported

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ The driver of a black Cadillac Escalade crashed into a souvenir shop Monday in Deerfield Beach, authorities said.

The crash was reported at the Beachcomber store at 2080 NE Second St.

Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said the driver, who is a man in his 70s, was backing out of the parking lot when the vehicle got stuck in reverse.

This Cadillac SUV came to a rest completely inside the Beachcomber souvenir shop in Deerfield Beach.

Jachles said three employees and a customer were inside at the time, but no one was injured.

"At that particular time, we only had one customer inside the store and our employees, thank God, were on this side," property owner Joan Hudson said.

Jachles said dozens of people were also sitting outside eating next door when the crash happened.

Witnesses said the driver, whose wife was also in the vehicle, was going about 30 or 40 mph.
