Driver sought in Liberty City hit-and-run crash with injuries

Victim tells Local 10 News hit-and-run driver showed no remorse

MIAMI ā€“ A driver remains on the run after a hit-and run crash in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood that left several people hurt Saturday morning.

It happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in front of a liquor store on Northwest 17th Avenue.

Ruby English said Saturday night she is trying to stay strong. Her daughter, Fran Brown, is in the hospital after the 21-year-old and four of her friends became victims of a hit-and-run crash in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood.

"She's not doing good -- you know, in a lot of pain," Ruby English said.

One man suffered multiple injuries, but was released from the hospital late Saturday morning.

But English's daughter could be hospitalized for days.

"She has lacerations and she has bruises all over her body," EnglishĀ said.

Witnesses said that a Chevy vehicle was parked illegally in the middle of the street. Some of the passengers went inside the store to buy alcohol and as they were getting back in their vehicle, a Mercedes SUV rear-ended them.

The Mercedes is now in police custody, but the driver remains on the run.

Another victim, who did not want to be identified, told Local 10 News the driver showed no remorse.

"He got out of the car and he said, 'What the hell was that?' And then he got back into the car," the victim said.

The victims claim the hit-and-run driver was drunk and drove onto the sidewalk. One of the victims was in the intensive care unit Saturday.

"Do the right thing and turn yourself in," English said. "It's only right, because you have family members also."
