MARGATE, Fla. -

The body of a driver killed in a crash in Margate was found in a canal Monday morning.

The crash happened in the 6800 block of Royal Palm Boulevard about 11 p.m. Saturday when Parasram Nandalall's Jeep Grand Cherokee veered off the road and ended up in the canal, police said.

After an extensive search by dive teams and the Broward Sheriff's Office helicopter, Nandalall wasn't immediately located. Nandalall's body was recovered from the canal about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

The cause of the traffic crash is still under investigation.
