Dwyane Wade fired up after recent comments made by Kevin Durant

Sports Illustrated lists top NBA players, with Durant ranked 2nd, Wade ranked 8th

MIAMI – Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has a little extra motivation heading into the season as he is fired up about comments recently made by rival Kevin Durant.

This week, Sports Illustrated released their list of the top players in the NBA. LeBron James was ranked number 1, Durant ranked second and Wade was 8th on the list.

When asked about his opinion on the Top 10, Durant said he'd replace Wade with former teammate James Harden.

Wade responded quickly with an Instagram post that read, "Kevin Durant said James Harden should replace me in the Top 10. Note to self, make him respect your place in history...again."

Durant fired back, tweeting: "Show me, don't tweet me."

The back and forth ignited social media, with many siding with either the three-time champ or with SI's number 2.

These elite players were in Gatorade commercials together. In the most recent one, they went head-to-head, like they did in 2012 when Wade's Heat beat Durant's Thunder in five games.

The question now: are the competitors actually enemies or are the co-stars just conning all of us in a giant Gatorade ad?

ESPN Business Reporter Darren Rovell tweeted, "Gatorade official says the drink brand had nothing to do with Spokesman Wade, Spokesman Durant fight."

Remember when Wade was making T-Mobile commercials with Charles Barkley? After Barkley called the Heat a whiny bunch in 2011, Wade took offense and those ads stopped.

Heat forward Udonis Haslem joined the conversation a short time ago on Instagram with a picture that read, "My 3 meaning Wade's titles, is better than your 3, good call KD."
