Low-income students now make up the majority of public schools in at least 17 states. Find out which states have the most.
A new report by the Southern Education Foundation finds that low-income children are a majority in the public schools of at least 17 states -- 13 of them in the South. Here are the states with the most low-income students, based off the percentage of public school students receiving free or reduced-price lunches in 2011:
