Donald Trump lands in South Florida for fundraiser, speech

Protesters expected at Trump National Doral

DORAL, Fla. – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump landed at Miami International Airport just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday to attend a GOP fundraiser.

The chairman of the party, Reince Priebus, along with Gov. Rick Scott, is expected to be in attendance at the event, along with other big donors.

He is also scheduled to deliver a speech Wednesday morning at Trump National Doral, where he is expected to spend the night.

Trump was initially going to take part in a roundtable at Versailles Restaurant with Hispanic business leaders uring his trip to Miami, but that event was scrapped earlier in the week.

Karen Giorno, Trump's national political adviser, told the Miami Herald that the participants of the roundtable were not in town, and "We're going to wait until we can get them."

This is the second that the roundtable was rescheduled. A previous meeting was canceled due to the shooting in Dallas that left five officers dead and several others wounded.

Protesters gathered outside of Trump Doral on Tuesday to speak out against Trump's immigration stance and campaign tone.

They held signs that read, "Take your hate out of out of our state," and, "Love tumps hate, stop Trump."

Although Trump isn’t slated to have any public events during his stay in Miami, his campaign said that could very well change.

Earlier in the day, Trump was in the battleground state of North Carolina, where he took part in a rally with his running mate Mike Pence.

The pair met with veterans and talked about the need to make changes to the VA system. Trump also used the platform to go after Hillary Clinton.
