SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. - Police are looking for a group of men who dressed as Florida Power & Light workers when they robbed a home in southwest Miami-Dade.
The robbery happened in the 14000 block of Southwest 100 Lane about noon Tuesday.14000 SW 100 Ln Miami, Florida
According to investigators, the 55-year-old victim said she was outside when she saw two men wearing shirts marked "FPL" walking around her yard. The men told the woman they needed to check her meter, and she let them into her yard through a side gate.
"They came because someone called about a short circuit in the house," said a man whose father-in-law later called police for the woman. "They immediately took her inside, hit her and tie her."
Once inside the yard, the robbers forced their way into her home, tied the woman up, reportedly with a pillowcase, and ransacked her house with a third man. The robbers left with jewelry and a cell phone. The woman was not injured.
After the man called police, marked units began to arrive, but there were no sighting of any workers in the streets.
"Sometime they come to check the meter on the house but long time, they don't come," said a neighbor.
Neighbors, who asked not to be identified, said it's not the first crime in the subdivision. The man whose father-in-law called police said his house was burglarized last year.
"There have been two more houses," said the man.
The first robber is described as between 30 to 40-years-old, 6 feet tall, and 190 pounds with short, dark hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a light-blue FPL t-shirt and jeans.
The second robber is described as in his 20s, 5 feet 3 inches tall, 170 pounds, and light skinned with light brown hair. He was last seen wearing a light-blue shirt and jeans.
