WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A final farewell will be held Monday for a fallen soldier from Coral Springs.

More than 100 soldiers from the Florida Army National Guard gathered at Palm Beach International Airport on Sunday for a solemn salute as Warrant Officer Joseph Schiro returned home.

Warrant officer Schiro died from small arms fire in Afghanistan on Oct. 6.

The 27-year-old highly decorated soldier was a member of the Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets. It was his fourth deployment to Afghanistan.

Warrant Officer Schiro leaves a wife and three children.

His funeral is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
