Father locks up teen's belongings for $500 cell phone bill

HANOVER, Virg. – A father in Virginia is holding his daughter's belongings hostage after she racked up a pricey cell phone bill.

After hearing his daughter's cell phone bill was nearly $500, Jared Cramer decided to dish out a unique punishment to teach her a lesson.

Cramer took 13-year-old Julia's phone and locked her closet. He then stuck labels with different numbers on her clothes and shoes to let his teenage daughter know how many chores she would have to do to earn back her things.

Cramer said his daughter apologized for the bill and believes it was a more effective form of discipline than just sending her to her room for a few days.
