Father of boy killed in Lauderhill fire accused of child neglect

Wisler Isme left sons home alone, police say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – The father of a boy who was killed in a Lauderhill fire has been arrested.

Lauderhill police Lt. Michael Butkus told Local 10 News that Wisler Isme was arrested Tuesday on one count of child neglect causing great bodily harm.

Butkus said Isme left his two sons home alone before the fire at their house last month.

Justin Isme, 9, escaped from the fire, but firefighters found the body of his brother, Jayden Isme, 8, in his mother's bedroom.

According to the arrest warrant, the children's mother, Melanie Harvey, was at work when their father left them home alone.

Justin Isme told police he knew his mother was at work but didn't know his father's whereabouts at the time of the fire. He said his mother usually leaves candles burning in the bedrooms.

Isme was being held at the main Broward County jail on $50,000 bond.
