Man taken into custody following police pursuit

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Gardens police provided few answers Friday following a police pursuit that ended with one man in custody.

Officers initially reported a white Jeep Cherokee as a stolen vehicle, and police radio transmissions say that a Jeep was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95.

A crash happened in the southbound express lanes at Northwest 125th Street about 5:50 a.m. A motorcyclist involved in the crash was transported, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, but that person's condition wasn't immediately released.

The driver exited I-95 at Northwest 135th Street and his Jeep had a flat tire, according to police radio transmissions. He stopped near Northwest 13th Avenue, and was yelling "Shoot me! Shoot me!" at the officers.

Video showed the man handcuffed before he was taken to the hospital. His condition wasn't immediately released.

Police later issued a news release related to the incident.
