Few flight delays, cancellations at MIA on Christmas Eve

Departures, arrivals running on time at FLL

MIAMI – At Miami International Airport on Christmas Eve, there were few flight delays and cancellations.

Inside Concourse D, where international arrivals are, many people waited patiently for loved ones to arrive for the holidays.

Milton Rivas said he was waiting on his fiancee from Colombia. He hadn't seen her in 6 months and was looking forward to spending the holidays with her.

"I hope she can come in soon because I'm very desperate to see her," Rivas said.

Phil Hanie was waiting on one of his best friends to arrive on a flight from Spain. For Hanie, spending time with friends is just as valuable as family.

"The holidays [are] to be with the people you care about and you smile with," Hanie said.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, departures and arrivals were running on time. Some flights in the afternoon were delayed by 15 to 20 minutes, said an airport spokesperson, because of construction.
