Fire rescue blamed the severe flames on the amount of things inside. It took 20 firefighters to knock them down.

"I stuck my head out the window to see what was going on and saw the front bedroom engulfed in flames," said neighbor Michael Reese.

Fire rescue believes the homeowner may have been a hoarder.

"It was over here, in a matter of minutes, it went from one side to the other and it was devastating to watch," said another neighbor.

City officials said the homeowner, a woman in her 60s or 70s, was out of town at the time. Neighbors said she's a retired school teacher.

No injures were reported.
