DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Broward County sheriff's firefighters responded to a retirement community Wednesday afternoon after receiving reports of a fire.
BSO Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said crews arrived at the Century Village condominiums in Deerfield Beach to find smoke coming from a second-floor unit.
Jachles said the fire, which gutted the unit, has since been extinguished.
One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
