A number of Florida schools have made the list of Best High Schools according to a tally by U.S. News & World Report.

More than 21,000 public high schools were evaluated in 49 states and the District of Columbia based on state proficiency standards and how well they prepare students for college.

Here's the list of schools in Miami-Dade and Broward counties that made the top 20 and where they ranked in the U.S.:

  • International Studies Charter High School is #2 in Florida and #15 in the U.S.
  • Design & Architecture Senior High is #4 in Florida and #20 in the U.S.
  • Young Women's Preparatory Academy is #5 in Florida and #25 in the U.S.
  • MAST Academy is #11 in Florida and #96 in the U.S.
  • Coral Reef Senior High School is #13 in Florida and #137 in the U.S.
  • Cypress Bay High School is #15 in Florida and #180 in the U.S.
  • Pompano Beach High School is #17 in Florida and #230 in the U.S.
  • Academy of Arts & Minds is #18 in Florida and #263 in the U.S.
  • Somerset High School is #20 in Florida and #308 in the U.S.
