PLANTATON, Fla. - Florida Gov. Rick Scott declared a State of Emergency Saturday ahead of Isaac's arrival to the mainland.
In a news conference in Plantation Saturday, Scott said he will not participate in any of the Republican National Convention activities in Tampa on Sunday and Monday, and has canceled his scheduled speech at the convention.
Scott said there are already 245 FEMA workers in the state still here after Tropical Storm Debby, and 100 more on standby. For more information, visit FloridaDisaster.org.
"We are a hospitality state. We know how to take care of people and we want to ensure their safety," Scott said.
The Associated Press reported the that the convention will convene Monday, then recess until Tuesday afternoon due to Isaac.
