Florida lawmakers approve maternity wing for local hospital

Miami Children's Hospital will likely get a 10-bed wing

MIAMI – Miami Children's Hospital will likely get a new maternity wing.

The 10-bed wing was approved by the Florida Senate on Friday.

Miami Children's Hospital says doctors will be able to give more immediate attention to sick newborns.

The bill passed the Senate with a 37 to 2 vote.

The legislation now heads to Gov. Rick Scott's desk for his signature or veto.
