1 dead following South Beach shooting

Suspect caught at 16th St. and Alton Rd.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead outside of his South Beach Apartment.

The shooting happened at 11:15 a.m. Saturday morning at 1361 Euclid Avenue. Police quickly caught up with the suspect near 16th Street and Alton Road.

Police said they believe the alleged shooter and the victim knew each other, and that this was not a random act of violence.

"The issue that we have now is finding out what led to this homicide but we definitely know the subject knew the victim," said Bobby Hernandez of Miami Beach police.

Local 10 has been told the victim, a man in his fifties, has an extensive past in narcotics, which may have been an issue here.

Police said multiple witnesses in the area helped them identify and capture the alleged shooter.
