WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - An 18-month-old boy is dead after he was shot by a man who forced his way into a vehicle Wednesday.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said Izarion Colin died Thursday morning at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Barbera said a man, woman, 4-year-old and the toddler were in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Quail Drive in West Palm Beach when that man entered their vehicle.

After getting into an altercation with the man and woman, the gunman opened fire, striking the toddler in the torso.

The shooter fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. The adults drove the toddler to Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was then transferred to St. Mary's Medical Center. 

Anyone with any information on the identity or whereabouts of the shooter is asked to contact local law enforcement.
