MIRAMAR, Fla. - Two people were injured when a home invasion turned into a shootout in Miramar on Friday morning.

Police say burglars broke into a home inside a gated community along Southwest 44th Street and 126th Avenue. The homeowners were not at home, but there were house sitters inside.

The house sitters then shot at the burglars, police say. Police found one person who was shot at Flamingo Road and Miramar Parkway. Police didn't give details about the injuries the second person suffered.

The conditions of the two who were injured weren't immediately released. Police detained at least three people, including the two who were injured. involved in the incident.

People living near the home called it a problem spot in the neighborhood.

"There's always a new car there, sometimes expensive cars, like one time a Ferrari was there, which is weird because [they're] young kids, you know," said one neighbor.

Another neighbor told Local 10 there was a party at the house on Thursday night. A champagne bottle was found on the front lawn.
