COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Two wildfires continue to burn in eastern Collier County on Saturday morning.
County officials said the boundaries affected by an evacuation order are from the south side of Golden Gate Boulevard south to Interstate 75, and from 39th Street east to Tobias Street. The mandatory evacuation order was later expanded to Magnolia Pond Drive.
Caloosahatchee Forestry Center officials said the 30th Avenue fire has burned 4,800 acres and is only 10 percent contained.
Seven Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units are assisting Collier County authorities fight the wildfires.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said five fire engines from Broward and Palm Beach counties are also assisting.
A reception center is open for evacuees at the Golden Gate Community Center at 4701 Golden Gate Parkway in Naples.
The shelter is not open overnight at this time.
The Golden Gate Estates Library closed at 1 p.m. Friday because of the wildfires.
The Collier County Parks and Recreation Division also closed Max Hasse Community Park for public use at 1 p.m. The park will remain closed until further notice.
A voluntary evacuation is in place for homes south of Golden Gate Parkway from Tropicana Boulevard east to Collier Boulevard in Golden Gate City.
