BCS events transform Miami Beach

Sunday features FloRida concert

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Ocean Drive was shut down to cars between 5th and 14th streets Saturday morning, as the city expects large crowds ahead of Monday's national championship game. The road will be pedestrian traffic only until Monday morning.

In celebration of the face-off between the No. 1 Fighting Irish and the No. 2 Crimson Tide, a free, two-day event is being held on Miami Beach. The Discover Championship Fan Experience is being held on Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. along Ocean Drive between 7th and 8th streets.

On Sunday, the party will cap off with a concert featuring DJ Irie, Dierks Bentley, and Flo Rida. The concert starts at around  5 p.m. and will last several hours.

Away from the party, players and fans from the two teams will take part in service projects. Notre Dame players will meet with patients at Joe DiMaggio Childrens' Hospital. Alumni and fans of both schools will build an urban garden in Overtown, and complete other inner-city beautification efforts.

The BCS Title Game is Monday night at Sun Life Stadium.
