FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The School Board of Broward County held a moment of silence Tuesday to honor the victims and families of the Connecticut school shooting.

"As a parent with a child who is still in public schools, as a parent of three daughters -- it's something that you think about constantly and how devastating this is," said Broward School Superintendent Robert Runcie. "This is a very difficult time for everyone. Our crisis personnel and family counselors continue to be available to our students."

Miami-Dade Public Schools also followed suit and paid their respects to the 20 children and six faculty members who were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School Friday.

Districts plan to review safety plans and decide if they need to beef up security in light of the shooting.
