The U.S. Coast Guard rescues a sick man from a cruise ship off Key West.

KEY WEST, Fla. - A man is in stable condition in a Key West hospital after the U.S. Coast Guard safely hoisted him off a cruise ship.

The Coast Guard was notified Thursday after the 51-year-old man began experiencing severe chest pain while aboard the Carnival Ecstasy. The ship was about 250 miles southwest of Key West at the time.

Doctors recommended that the man should be taken to a hospital.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Clearwater hoisted the man and took him to the hospital.
