Disney details upcoming events at Seven Dwarf Mine Train announcement

Summer specials planned at Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom

ORLANDO, Fla. – Disney on Friday announced several new events at its parks, including details on Star Wars weekend, an after-hours event at Epcot and a "Frozen" cruise.

The news came at an event for Disney's Seven Dwarfs Mine Train debut on Friday. Officials announced that the roller coaster will officially open May 28.

Star Wars weekends will run from May 16 to June 15 and feature a special character dining, along with a Symphony of the Stars featuring famous characters, Disney officials said.

At Epcot, an after-hours wine down event will allow park guests to stay after the fireworks every night through the summer and visit one of the four lounges for drinks.

Park officials also said for the third time they will host a 24-hour event on May 23-24 where Magic Kingdom will stay open all night.

At Animal Kingdom, theatrical performances of the "Lion King" will be a part of "Harambe Nights" from June 7- Aug. 9. Celebrities such as Viola Davis and David Allen Greer will narrate the performances.

Avatarland will have three interactive elements open to guests in 2017 in Animal Kingdom, officials said. Guests will experience the world of Pandora with the floating mountains, the biolumminist rain forest and ride the Banshee.

Disney Cruise Lines also announced a new cruise to Norway and Iceland in 2015. The cruises will be based off on "Frozen."

In Downtown Disney news, officials announced in 2015 that "The Landing" will open with shops and entertainment, as Downtown Disney is renamed "Disney Springs" permanently in 2015.
