Fire crews battle blaze near Southland Mall

How fire started unclear

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Firefighters say they now have a brush fire in Southwest Miami-Dade under control.

The fire was burning Wednesday afternoon at Southwest 118th Avenue and 228th Street, just south of Southland Mall.

The blaze occurred close to a church and fire crews say some homes in the area lost power.

No injuries were reported and it is unclear how the fire started.

Residents in the area who have respiratory conditions have been told to stay inside their homes to avoid smoke inhalation.
