Detectives to man accused of setting pregnant woman on fire: 'We're lighting a fire on him now'

Police say Noel Grullon fled after dousing woman with gasoline, igniting her

HIALEAH, Fla. – Hialeah Police Department spokesman Carl Zogby had a message Saturday for Noel Grullon.

Zogby said it's only a matter of time before the man accused of setting his pregnant girlfriend on fire is found.

"He's been lucky for about a day and a half, but his luck is going to run out," Zogby said.

Allyson Rivera, who is pregnant, told detectives that she and Grullon, 32, dated for six months before ending their relationship Wednesday night. The next morning, Grullon was angry. He started pulling the drawers off the cabinets and throwing them on the floor, according to a police report.

Rivera's two daughters, ages 1 and 4, were sleeping in the apartment. Rivera, 27, asked him to stop so he wouldn't wake up the girls and pushed him out. She told police officers that Grullon came back with a canister of gasoline, poured it over her and set her on fire.

"We're lighting a fire on him now," Zogby said.

Police said Grullon also smashed Rivera's cellphone, so she couldn't call 911. Detectives believe he fled in a 2007 black Ford F150 pickup truck with Florida license plate HVD-E62.

"He's got no place to run," Zogby said.

Rivera said she ran to the shower to extinguish the flames, grabbed her children and drove to a friend's house. Her friend took her to the hospital, where she remained Saturday, getting treatment for second-degree burns.

Police didn't find out about the attack until Rivera was in the hospital and a social worker reported the domestic violence incident.

Grullon is currently wanted on a charge of aggravated battery.

Detectives were asking anyone with information to call 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
