MIAMI – Now that July is over, we can all hope that August is a drier month.
The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) reported on Friday that July's soaking of South Florida capped the wettest start to the annual rainy season since 1968.

The SFWMD said South Florida received 10.36 inches of rain in July.
That is 3.33 inches above average and the highest total for the month of July since 2001.
They also said the four-month stretch from April through July was the wettest on record for that period in South Florida since 1932.
Water levels in Lake Okeechobee are at 15.86 feet, well above normal.
