Local man wins $2 million playing Powerball

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - A South Florida man is $2 million richer after winning the Powerball.

The Lottery folks said Gerardo Salazar, 42, won the big prize when he hit 5 numbers with the power play during Saturday night's Powerball drawing.

To win the entire jackpot, someone must have all six numbers, including the Powerball number.

Salazar bought the winning ticket at the Publix store on Miramar Parkway in Miramar.

Publix received a $5,000 commission for selling the ticket.

The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday night.

The jackpot is $240 million and you can only watch the drawing on Local 10 News at 11.
