2 people found dead near North Miami Beach

Police not linking deaths together at this time

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police are conducting two death investigations after a man and woman were found dead Friday a short distance from each other, authorities said.

Miami-Dade police said they found a woman dead inside a red Toyota outside a home near Northeast Eighth Place and 177th Street near North Miami Beach.

They said they received a call about 8 a.m. about a suspicious car still running with the woman inside.

"There was a car that crashed into a fence and they found a body in that car," Shlomo Stein, who has lives in the area, said.

Stein said he has been living in the neighborhood for 15 years, and said it is usually a nice, quiet community.

The last time he saw this kind of activity was when a rabbi was shot and killed in nearby North Miami Beach back in 2014.

"What's going on? Why is this happening? Why did that happen over here?" Stein said. "(It) doesn't seem like something that would happen in this neighborhood."

Police said the body of a 19-year-old man was found overnight at Columbia Park on Northeast 177th Street and 13th Avenue, about a mile and a half from where the woman was found.

Police said they are not linking the two incidents at this time.

Anyone with information about either death is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
