HIALEAH, Fla. - Today is "No Text on Board" pledge day.

Drivers nationwide are being urged to make today the last day they ever text while driving.

"No Text on Board" is part of AT&T's aggressive Txtng & Driving…It Can Wait public awareness campaign, announced in 2009. The goal of the campaign is to save lives and make texting and driving as unacceptable as drinking and driving.

In recognition and support of "No Text On Board – Pledge Day," approximately 1,000 students at American Senior High School in Hialeah will take the pledge in unison during a program this morning attended by Miami-Dade County government and school officials. AT&T will also unveil its new online driving simulator, created so that anyone with access to the Internet can experience the dangers of texting while driving.

Also, in support of the pledge day, the Florida DOT will be posting a "Don't Text and Drive" message on its changeable messaging signs on interstates and the turnpike throughout the state today.
