MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are searching for at least two people involved in the shooting of a 16-year-old boy in northwest Miami-Dade County.
The shooting was reported Halloween night in the area of Northwest 46th Street and 23rd Avenue.
Police said Hasam Williams was walking to a corner store about a block away from his home when he was approached by at least two people.
Williams' mother told Local 10 News reporter Terrell Forney that she heard the gunshots, and then received a call that her son had been shot.
"It was a horrible feeling because I thought my baby was leaving," she said. "All this blood. He kept saying, 'Mommy, I love you.'"
Williams was shot six times and is recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Williams is currently a sophomore at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. The school has lost three children to gun violence this year.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
