Missing Norwegian man believed to be in Keys

Giuseppe Codiglia, 56, last seen May 25 at Parmer's Resort

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Norwegian man who Monroe County sheriff's deputies believe traveled to the Keys was reported missing by his son last week.

The son told detectives that Giuseppe Codiglia, 56, traveled to the U.S. in February to visit a friend in New Jersey.

He said his father calls him a couple of times a week, but he hasn't heard from him since May 25.

According to deputies, Codiglia purchased a 1992 Chevrolet motor home in Las Vegas and was staying in it in the driveway of his friend's New Jersey home.

The friend told detectives that Codiglia left on May 22 without giving him any reason.

The motor home was found in the Keys several days later in the parking lot of Big Pine Boat Rental. The manager told deputies that he had it towed, because it had been parked there for two days.

Detectives said it didn't appear that Codiglia rented any boats from any nearby businesses, but the manager of Parmer's Resort on Little Torch Key told deputies that Codiglia has stayed at the resort on May 24 and checked out the next day.

Several personal items were found on the abandoned motor home, including a cellphone, laptop, clothing and an empty gun case. Codiglia's wallet, passport, keys and a second iPhone he was known to have were also missing.

Anyone with information about Codiglia's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Manny Cuervo at 305-797-0064.
