Are human bones found under Card Sound Road Bridge those of James Dzadura?

Dzadura, who is wanted on sexual battery charge, reported missing in 2013

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – The medical examiner's office in the Florida Keys will determine whether the human bones found Sunday under the Card Sound Road Bridge are those of James Dzadura or someone else.

A human skull and other bones were found Sunday under the bridge that connects Miami-Dade and Monroe counties by a couple from Naples who were diving for lobsters.

The couple notified a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer who was patrolling the area.

The bones were then turned over to the medical examiner to determine the person's identity, how long they've been there and what may have caused the person's death.

Some are speculating that the bones might belong to Dzadura, of Homestead, who was reported missing in December 2013 when he was 38 years old.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies said Dzadura was wanted by police in Miami on a sexual battery charge.

A relative contacted authorities on Dec. 30, 2013, after receiving a text message from Dzadura that said he was on the Card Sound Bridge with a 40-pound weight tied to him and he was going to jump from the bridge.

Deputies responded to the scene just before 1 a.m. and found Dzadura's minivan parked at the bridge, with the keys in the ignition.

A wallet, a 40-pound dumbbell weight and other items were found inside the unlocked vehicle, deputies said.

Miami-Dade police detectives also responded to the bridge to assist in the investigation and found Dzadura's cellphone on the railing of the bridge, about halfway up the east side.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the U.S. Coast Guard and a boat from Ocean Reef Public Safety searched the area by water with no result.

The search was called off at about 4 a.m. the same day.

Anyone with further information about the bones that were found is asked to call the major crimes unit at 305-289-2410, or Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys at 800-346-TIPS.
