Jupiter teen wins Alligator Lighthouse Swim

17-year-old swimmer beats some 180 competitors

ISLAMORADA, Fla. – Noah Zhang, who traveled from Jupiter for the competition, was the winner of Saturday's Alligator Lighthouse Swim in the Florida Keys.

Zhang, 17, swam about nine miles with some 180 other competitors. They departed from the Islamorada shoreline to the Alligator Reef Lighthouse, around the beacon and back.

Zhang finished in three hours and 46 minutes.

The event is a college scholarship fundraiser to raise awareness on the historic value of the 143-year-old lighthouse and five other lighthouses off the Florida Keys.
