Robert Boyd told detectives that he hadn't seen his girlfriend since about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Boyd told authorities that he and Smith got into an argument and she left their house in the 500 block of Fifth Street in Key Colony Beach.

He said she had only a few dollars with her, so he expected her to return home. He said Smith had moved in with him in February and does not know many people in the area.

Herrin said a sergeant called Smith's cellphone, but the call went to voicemail. He also called local hospitals to make sure that Smith had not been injured.

Arrangements are being made to reunite Smith with her family.
