Pepper spray sickens 10 at medical facility

8 transported to hospital; 2 treated at facility

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Firefighters blamed pepper spray for sickening at least 10 people at a medical facility in Coral Springs.

The pepper spray was dispersed inside a medical office building at 9750 NW 33rd Street on Wednesday afternoon, said Coral Springs Fire Department Capt. Mike Moser. The building is on the grounds of Broward Health Coral Springs but isn't owned by the health system.

Fire Rescue treated two people at the facility. Eight others were transported.

Symptoms include respiratory difficulty and skin irritation.

It's unclear why the pepper spray was dispersed.

In June 2012, police say someone set a fire at the same building. A sexual assault was also reported there.
