Police: Man snatched chains from elderly women

21-year-old Brian Moreno-Olivera charged with robbery, battery in 2 cases

HIALEAH, Fla. – Police on Wednesday arrested a man accused of snatching chains from two elderly women in separate incidents.

On Oct. 2nd at 1225 W. 30th Street, Brian Moreno-Olivera snatched a gold chain from a 78-year-old woman's neck, according to police. He dropped the chain on the ground before he was able to run away with it, and the elderly woman then hit him on the head with her umbrella.

A Hialeah police officer spotted the commotion and took Moreno-Olivera, 21, into custody. He was charged with attempted robbery and battery on the elderly, according to the affidavit.

In a Sept. 25th case, Moreno-Olivera was also charged with robbery and battery on the elderly.

In that case, Moreno-Olivera snatched an elderly woman's chain off her neck as she was walking on the sidewalk at West 18th Avenue and 54th Street.

Moreno-Olivera is suspected in other similar crimes, which are currently under investigation.
