Shaquille O'Neal graduates from Barry University

NBA legend will receive Doctoral Degree

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Barry University graduated a big new alumnus at their commencement ceremony Saturday.

Shaquille O'Neal graduated from Barry University with a doctoral degree in education. To be precise, it's a degree in Organizational Learning and Leadership with a specialization in Human Resource Development.

O'Neal excelled in his studies; after 16 courses and six credit hours of self-directed research, he had a cumulative GPA of 3.813. O'Neal has been juggling his school work for the last four years with his NBA career (he retired last year), broadcast appearances, and business endeavors.

As a part of his graduation, O'Neal also presented a doctoral project entitled, "How Leaders Utilize Humor or Seriousness in Leadership Styles."

O'Neal returned to Louisiana State University to complete his Bachelor of Science after he had been drafted to the NBA. In 2005, he received his MBA.

O'Neal joins 1,100 students who graduated from Barry University.
