Stranded divers rescued while searching for lobsters

Sea Tow capt. found men floating in water about 1 mile offshore

PORT EVERGLADES, Fla. – A Sea Tow captain is credited with rescuing two men who were diving for lobsters Wednesday afternoon.

Darren Diaz said he had just started his shift at 12:30 p.m. when he got word that the men had drifted away from their boat, while three others were on board. The boat was having battery issues so the others couldn't go after the stranded divers.

Diaz said he eventually spotted the men floating in the water about a mile offshore from Port Everglades. He said he pulled them onto his boat and waited with them until the Coast Guard arrived.

The Coast Guard eventually brought the men back to their boat.

The men were not injured.
