Suspect accused of raping woman behind Davie coin laundromat

Fabian Powell granted no bail Thursday

DAVIE, Fla. – Police arrested a man they say attacked and raped a woman as she walked from work in Davie.

A judge granted no bail to Fabian Powell in court Thursday. Powell is accused of punching and sexually assaulting a woman in 2012.

The alleged attack happened after the victim was dropped off near Stirling Road at the David Road exit.

The victim says she was walking home when she was jumped and dragged behind a coin laundromat, where she was raped.

Police say Powell may also be responsible for a similar attack in Fort Lauderdale last year.
