BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A principal at a Wellington middle school is facing child sex charges after he was arrested while trying to meet who he thought was a teenager for sex, police said.
Scott A. Blake, 47, is the principal at Polo Park Middle School.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Boynton Beach Police detective said that he was working undercover online as a "boy child."
The undercover detective said he received a private message from the screen name "Scott."
After several days of sometimes lurid conversation in which the detective told "Scott" he was 15-years-old, police said they agreed to meet on Tuesday night.
As they planned the meeting, the detective said "Scott" was afraid that he would get arrested and wanted to be sure the undercover detective was not law enforcement and actually a child.
Police said "Scott" suggested that he drive by on the street to know that the detective was really a kid.
Police said the detective and "Scott" discussed and agreed on a meeting time.
Police said that on Tuesday night, Scott A Blake was driving around the parking lot of the meeting place in Boynton Beach for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. He was circling the parking lot.
Detectives pulled over the car.
They said they found a Palm Beach County School Board identification card that showed him as a Principal for the school board on the driver's seat.
Police arrested Blake.
He is charged with computer pornography child exploitation and traveling to meet a minor to commit an unlawful sex act.
On Friday, a Judge set bond for Blake at $500,000.
If Blake makes bond, he will be placed under house arrest with no access to the internet and no contact with children.
