Fort Lauderdale man killed after crashing into concrete pole

Deputies say man lost control, spun around, struck concrete light pole

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Deputies say a Fort Lauderdale man was killed when he crashed into a concrete pole in Lauderdale Lakes.

After 6:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies said Emmanuel Vedrine, 45, was driving 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo westbound on Oakland Park Boulevard, just east of State Road 7, when he lost control, spun around and struck a concrete light pole.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Vedrine dead at the scene.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said 30-year-old Marjorie Pierre, who was riding as a passenger in the car, was taken by BSFR to Broward Health Medical Center. Deputies said she was treated and later released for injuries sustained in the crash.

BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the cause of the early morning crash.
